i had my seven-month check up on saturday. and the big shock came - i had gained eight pounds last month.
"should i be concerned?" i asked my doctor. "it's not a problem for the baby. just for you." we laughed, and then i proceeded to think of nothing but those eight pounds all weekend long.
so, sunday evening as i talked of my weight, mr. pike suggested we pick me up a swimsuit and get me back in the pool. "i hear pregnant women love swimming," he said.
and so after work on monday, we stopped at the mall and purchased a swimsuit. then we stopped by the sports store for a new pair of goggles and a swim cap. so, i was all decked out.
all to do now was to head to the pool. so after dinner, mr. pike and i went to our community rec center.
i had not swam laps in a long time - and my lungs reminded me of this after just two laps. but, the water felt so good. and i loved every moment.
thank you, mr. pike, for suggesting such an idea.

Swimming was my activity of choice for the last two months of my pregnancy. If nothing else it makes you feel light as feather and any pains you were feeling disappear in the pool. Good luck, maybe tomorrow you will be able to get 3 laps before getting tired. :)
Hey, I swam laps yesterday, too. It was my first time since last summer, and I had to keep catching my breath at the wall (I'm guessing pregnancy makes it even more tiring). Sounds like a great way to exercise seven months along!
Good idea to get in the pool. It is so nice to not feel heavy! But after you give birth, you are still going to look and feel fat even if you didn't gain a ton of weight. Just remember, 9 months on, 9 months off.
Joe told me the same thing when I was pregnant!! Except you actually took him up on the idea!! That just makes me laugh...and don't worry about the weight, it's all WATER!! :)
