let's go fly a kite

yesterday mr. pike volunteered to do the laundry -- which is a bit of an ordeal at our house because we have to load it all up and head down to the laundry mat. i was tasked to run to costco and make my way through free samples.

as we left the house, the sun was shining and the temperature was just right -- not too hot, not too cold. mr. pike remarked, "it's a shame to spend such a lovely day indoors." with that final thought, we emptied our laundry from the car, and i left mr. pike at the laundry mat.

i love going to costco. and as i nibbled on samples of black forest ham and chicken stir fry, i knew mr. pike had gotten the short end of the stick when it came to our saturday errands.

on my way home, i thought about what would make mr. pike most happy today. to be outside. so, i dropped off our groceries at home, packed a picnic, a
nd grabbed mr. pike's kite.

when i returned to the laundry mat, i told mr. pike i had a surprise for him. we loaded up our car with our fresh, clean clothes and headed t
o the lake.

we watched the waves lap onto the shore and clouds roll by as we ate our lunch. it was a beautiful afternoon. then i pulled out the kite for its inaugural flight.

mr. pike released our kite -- and it soared over the lake. he ran up and down the shore keeping it moving with the wind. (i just watched, since i'm not moving as fast as i once did.) having some time to be outside made mr. pike very happy. it was a lovely reward for errands well done.

Some days are like that -- there's too much to get done inside, but it's too beautiful to not be outside. I'm glad you were able to breakaway and get outdoors!

Fun! I haven't flown a kite for a long time. Clearly, I need to get out and do so. Way to look after Mr. Pike.

Aw, that was so thoughtful, M.

Mr. Pike is one lucky guy!
