some time during the pregnancy, mr. pike and i had a conversation about postpartum depression. while we were talking, i had an idea that would keep me happy after baby girl was born. would mr. pike grow a mustache for me?
he agreed. and after baby girl was born, the stache growing began -- slowly but surely.
so my anti-depression idea has worked! on several occasions, i have burst into laughter while mr. pike and i have been talking. i can't help but smile every time i see him.
mr. pike had mentioned this plan to his co-workers before baby girl was born, and when he returned to the office this week, they were pleased to see him keep his promise. when mr. pike came home from work today, he said, "i think it might be time to shave the mustache."
"it's only been a week - i was hoping that you'd keep it a little longer."
"well, i was meeting with my boss today, and during our conversation, he starts laughing. i ask him why, and he says, 'it's your mustache.'"
i told my dear husband he's providing a valuable service to all of us -- keeping everyone out of depression. while he asked that i don't post a pic, i'm sure many of you can only imagine.

What an awesome guy! I would love to see a candid shot, but I will settle for the pic of beautiful baby girl instead :)
Hahaha. This is awesome. Oh the extents we'll go to boost the happiness of our loved ones. I grew a mustache my freshman year of college in exchange for my brother reading the Book of Mormon. It was well worth is, but I definitely remember the funny looks I got - especially from friends I'd bump into randomly, who would just start to smile and then laugh uncontrollably. You've forced me to share this post due to its sheer awesomeness.
What a trooper!! That is awesome that he is doing that for you!
Now if he would only share the joy by letting us see a picture!!!
Love you guys!
P.S. Baby girl pike is beautiful!! She looks like such a content little girl
Congrats on the new addition! Amelia is beautiful and I am so excited for your new adventures as parents!
As a big fan of facial hair, I hope you succeed in convincing Mr. Pike to keep the 'stache for longer. Little Miss Pike just might find it fun and amusing too. My Sam loves daddy's very different face.
Mr. Pike better get used to the 'stache: the greatest risk of post partum depression occurs about 6 weeks after delivery. :)
Baby girl is beautiful--almost as beautiful as our was and is. :) Congratulations, you guys.
I LOVE seeing your pictures. It makes me so excited to meet this little guy who has a fascination with kicking my internal organs and ribs.
You are Wonder Woman for making jam with a two-week old baby. Wow!
