i just learned of film writer, producer, and director john hughes's recent passing. i have enjoyed many of his movies over the years and was shocked to hear of his death. mr. hughes grew up not far from where mr. pike and i live. and many of his movies took place in ours and neighboring towns.
while our friend mr. ord was in town this week, he suggested we make a movie scavenger hunt by seeing some of the locations around the area used in mr. hughes's movies. so, mr. ord and i got online to do a bit of research, looking for the addresses of some of these film locations.
fortunately, we came across a web site where you can search by movie or place to find filming locations and their addresses. so, we listed a few locations and got in the car to see what we could find.
mr. ord and i programed his GPS and started our wild chase around the area. we made it to five filming locations from mr. hughes's ferris bueller's day off, breakfast club, and home alone.
what a sightseeing tour! thank you, mr. hughes. we had a great afternoon.

Awesome!!! Hey, what about the house and church from Sixteen Candles? That was filmed in Chicago, too, wasn't it?
