a room with a view
i hate to admit -- but baby girl's room was in a complete state of chaos ever since she arrived. some of you may have seen it. i have not included a picture, since i am very embarrassed about the space our baby was sleeping in. it had once been our study, then we threw in a crib and the room became quite full and cramp.
the space drove mr. pike and i crazy. we had too much furniture in the room, but i didn't want to give up having a space to sew and do craft projects. and there wasn't any other place in the apartment to put my things.
well, just last week i decided i had had enough. it's not like i could sew when baby girl was in her room napping, and that is always the best time to work on a project. so, i took out the desk and disassembled it (since there is no other place for it in our apartment right now).
i reorganized the space, and now baby girl has her own room. she still shares the space with a bookshelf of mr. pike's and my things. but there is so much more space now. baby girl can even play in her room, which was almost impossible before.
i'm in love with her new room, and find myself sometimes just staring at it, feeling satisfied for a job well done! it's amazing how good simplifying can make you feel.

Bravo! It looks great. And I completely agree. Less is more. Children have enough "stuff" before you start adding your things to it too.
