i've been turpedoed into a new phase of mommyhood. chauffeuring. and so far, i'm not very good at it.
baby girl and i are helping watch some friends' kids while they're out of town this week. and i'm having a hard time keeping up with the schedule. taking kids to school. picking them up. gymnastics, piano. plus baby girl's schedule. it's a bit to juggle when you're not use to it. let's just say the first two days, we were late for gymnastics. i thought preschool started a half hour later than it really does. and i was late picking up too.
i may be a little spacey at times, but part of the problem is that nobody warned me that kids can sure take their time getting ready and in the car. i thought getting baby girl in the car was a process. but add two more kids, stuff that has to come with us, and no sense of urgency. i've learned to add 10-minute cushion to our out-the-door time, and today we made it to preschool on time! hurray!
while talking to my sister, mrs. jones, yesterday, she reminded me that you build up to these kind of schedules and that i still have a few years before baby girl has me driving around. hopefully by then, i'll have my chauffeuring license and be ready to roll.

It's really hard to juggle! I was a mess the first year with my brother, he thought I was so irresponsible. Take him to school, take myself to work, try to anticipate traffic to get everywhere on time, orthodontist appointments, then the neighbor and I would trade days helping each other out, so sometimes her kids would need to get to practices or get picked up from school. Ack! It's a lot. Sounds like you're getting the hang of it a lot faster than I did! Plus you're a good friend to help out :)
