maybe it's the print journalist in me -- but i love typography. or maybe that's why i decided to study journalism all those years ago.
typography was once a specialized occupation at publishing houses and printing presses. but now that everything is digital, anyone can dabble and experiment with fonts.
i love how letters and words can be art -- just depending on how its arranged. while i'm not really an artist, i do love a good font. and i collect them.
my first font find was font diner. home of retro fonts. i've purchased their "country fair picnic font set," with queen rosie and square meal being two of my favorites! they also have free fonts at their free silverware -- downloadable for PC or mac. there are many of their freebies on my computer too.
so, i recently found a new mecca of free fonts! this really was a jackpot of a find. free scrapbook fonts at kevin & amanda. they have created an amazing and varied collection of fonts.
some i've downloaded include cafe rojo, chewy stewy, clingy, and too much paper. i had to put a limit on how much time i spent at their site. i could have stayed for hours! (and it looks like they add new ones every few months.) and i like how on the right side bar, they have their fonts categorized for easy searching -- like curly fonts or handwritten fonts.
and if you're looking for some clever, modern typography art -- my friend mrs. knorpp makes lovely things. check out her store here.
