before bed

each night before little girl goes to bed, we pull out the children's version of the book of mormon and read a page together as a family. usually, little girl is running around, playing, or looking at another book.

but one night last week, she decided it was her turn to read to us.
it was such a sweet moment to me that i had to take a little footage.

i know it won't be long until little girl's talking up a storm in english, and i wanted to capture a bit of her jibberish talk. i love listening to her babbling (she does it all day!); i just wish i understood what she was saying (because at times, you can tell she has a lot on her mind).

i have two clips i adore of her reading scriptures to mr. pike. i love how sometimes she sticks her tongue out while she talks -- you can see it a bit in this clip.

i love in clip two how she picks up that daddy thinks she's funny. then she starts laughing at her own jokes -- mr. pike laughs at his own jokes, too. i think it's amazing how we can see bits ourselves in our children. and yet, they are quite unique.

sweet dreams to you, from the pikes

Abbi and I love it! What a good job you are doing with that sweet little girl. I love your insight about our children having parts of us yet being unique. Such a gift. We love you guys!

This is the funniest thing I have ever seen! What a treasure. She is so smart. She even uses her finger to follow along as she reads. How cute!
