i'm thankful for chicago

thanksgiving morning, we woke up to marching bands practicing in front of our building.  and that was at 6:30 a.m.  the city was up early preparing for the thanksgiving day parade.  and i was too -- making cinnamon rolls to take to the parade while we watched all those marching bands.

we met some friends, and got pretty good seats not far from the action.  the kids loved the balloons, although little girl needs some schooling in '80s cartoon characters.  there were many old-school favorites like woody woodpecker, mighty mouse, tom and jerry, garfield and odie.

i love our city!  there are so many wonderful events and activities that are free.  earlier in the week we saw the magnificent mile christmas lighting and the daley plaza tree lighting.  i love that i can experience so much with the kids and as a family.  we live in a generous city, and that makes my heart full.
