the children's museum of pittsburgh

one of our favorite places to play in pittsburgh is the children's museum of pittsburgh.  it doesn't hurt that it's about a mile from our hotel and we have reciprocal benefits right now with our field museum membership.  so we visit lots.

the kids love the huge art room where they can paint, silk screen, mold clay, make paper, and watercolor.  we like to stop there first, so all our projects can dry while we play.

there are tons of hands-on activities to build, make, and explore all over the museum.  mr. pike's and my favorite place is the gravity room, where you walk along the slope of a roof -- it feels quite strange.  little girl loves building homes with panels and bolts and nuts.  and little boy loves racing balls down this contraption of twists, tunnels, and holes.

fred rogers, who taped his shows in pittsburgh, said, "play is really the work of childhood."  so, little girl and little boy, work on!   and friends and family, come and play with us!
