turn it up, baby

in the afternoons, i like to make dinner to npr. little girl would rather listen to they might be giants, here come the ABCs.

but, it doesn't really matter what either of us want to listen to.

baby boy ends up controlling the air waves. he's mixing and turning. playing whatever his little fingers find.

another song by little girl

this is for dad dad. it's one of his favorites -- and i caught little girl singing it to baby boy today during lunch. i'm sure we'll one day get all the words, but until then, enjoy.

i am a child of god

two is a great age. not to say it's a perfect age. because there are plenty of moments that i don't like it. but, i do love that little girl is getting things now. i'm amazed at how incredible her brain is working to figure things out. and because little girl's very verbal for her age, we get to hear about all these discoveries. i love it!

little girl also has a good memory for a two-year-old. (could it be all those frozen blueberries she loved to eat as a baby?) she will recount things that happened months ago. she's been memorizing letters, stories, nursery rhymes, and songs.

but despite her outgoing personality, little girl isn't a performer. so, i have to secretly capture these moments. here's little girl singing one of her favorite songs. the message of the song is so pure coming from her sweet voice

and yes, little girl is reading the u.s. constitution. it's one of her favorite books. (that and a cupcake cookbook.) uncle j. will be so proud!

saturday morning dance party

little girl likes to dance. we have dance parties all the time, especially when we have company over. this saturday morning, little girl took her baby for a spin after breakfast.

her favorite tunes right now -- they might be giants' here come the abcs and the beatles' 1, but we're always looking for new dance music. any recommendations?

ps-we ended up getting our high maintenance rug, which so far has been great. once we're a little more settled, i'll post some pics of our new digs. until then, you can see a small glimpse of our new family room.

baby girl's got talent

last week i was going through a box of "inventory" (my stashes of stuff you never know when you might need it), when i found a kazoo. just a cheap, plastic, party favor one. i pulled it out to show baby girl.

she giggled and watched me intently as i buzzed a few tunes. then i gave the kazoo to her, and baby girl just chewed on it. i tried to explain the kazoo-blowing technique, but she didn't really grasp what i was teaching. so, i played and she chewed, and after five minutes, we were both ready for something else to do.

today i pulled out the kazoo again in an attempt to entertain baby girl. (baby girl's second encounter with the kazoo, mind you.) after playing a tune, i gave the kazoo to her. and to my amazement, baby girl had mastered the kazoo.

she was very excited to share a little song she wrote.
baby girl's first music video -- kazoo for you.
