ode to the olympics

mr. pike and i have missed the blog. we've been having our own little olympic games - babysitting four children under the age of seven. it's a test of endurance, mostly. and what this experience has taught me is i am out of shape!

now back at home, we're warming down from our four-day event. we loved the kids and they really were very good. but this experience combined with the beijing olympic games has put me in the mood for exercise.

mr. pike is already very good at doing his almost-daily calisthenics. i, on the other hand, need a little motivation. i told mr. pike tonight at dinner that maybe a cute workout outfit would help keep me going. he replied considerately, "yes. yes, it might."

my friend, miss anderson, suggested a spinning class. and after mr. pike's and my riding adventures, i think i might be up to such a challenge. just need to find a gym with a class.

so until then, it's back to running, which isn't my favorite. but then, mr. pike saw on the news today a new study that suggests regular running helps slow the aging process. and that might be my new motivation to tie those tennis shoes.

Dan and I were also having a discussion today on what we should do to get into better shape. We thought swimming may be fun (probably subconciously inspired by Michael Phelps)! Spinning is really fun, I also am not a fan of running :)

I think Mr & Mrs Pike are very BRAVE to take on 4 children...don't worry, YOUR olympics will start out gradually with ONE and work up from there! :)
