we finally got our . . . bug

can you remember back to the day this summer when i found a cockroach in my shoe at a restaurant? well, i made known then that i am far from a bug lover when the bug is indoors.

i have an eye for finding little critters in our home. and if these little guys would stay outside i would let them live a long and healthy life. but in my home, they're goners.

now i don't do the dirty work myself; i call in our exterminator -- mr. pike. when he hears his name, he replys, "yes, coach." (that's his name for me.)

to which i say, "i found a bug."

he runs to my rescue and saves the day. (if he's not around, i usually put a glass over the little bugger until mr. pike can take care of it.)

about a week ago, i saw a large spider in our bathroom. the largest spider to have entered our home; it had spun a little web by the base of the toilet. i stepped away to call joe, and when he came in -- the spider was gone.

i couldn't find it and hoped i had scared it away with my threatenings.

this morning, i saw it again, in the same place! i yelled for mr. pike and told him the spider returned and was by the toilet. not even a minute later, the spider had disappeared once again from its web! the illusive spider had gotten me again.

i was thinking about the spider tonight as i washed my face, and then to my astonishment, it appeared. this time i wasn't about to let it leave my sight. so i called mr. pike. "hurry! the spider's back!"

he rushed over and reenacted custer's last stand. but in the end, the spider turned out to be custer. it was a valiant fight, and i'm glad we were victorious. thanks, mr. pike!

At least Joe is not scared of Spiders like Jon and Ben are...I don't know what their wives are going to do!! I totally make Mark kill the bugs when he is home, but if he is not home, I have no mercy on those blasted things!!! Especially when they are by my babies!

I hate spiders! I always have Dan kill them for me. On rare occation I have to do it myself if he isn't around. There is a lot of squeeling involved when I do it, but when put to the test I can be brave!

Hello! I'm so happy to have found your blog thanks to the PHS 2000 blog. My name is Sherri and my husband (josh) and I went to high school with Joe. We only met you at the reception and I do not expect you to remember me! =) I wanted to tell Joe thanks for letting us borrow his parents. We now live in Pasadena and get to see his parents and Anna every sunday. In fact Anna and Rachel babysat for us so we could go to the temple. It's so fun to have a little bit of Provo with us while we're here in California! We're even going trick-or-treating with Mom Pike and Anna. I'll probably post pictures so if you want to see you'll have to e-mail me your e-mail address since our blog is private.
