mr. pike and i chose one resolution for 2009 - simplify. mr. pike had already been on a simplicity kick during the later part of 2008 - cleaning out his closet and files. i listened to him champion the cause of living a more simplistic life, but had yet to feel very moved to action.
while visiting my family during the holidays, i decided to tackle the boxes of my stuff in the basement and take some of of it back with me. i spent several days sorting through old memories - throwing some away, giving some away, and returning others to their box.
i felt like i had made such great progress, but as i finished my job, i still had so much left. that's when i remembered mr. pike's motto - simplify.
so, that is our task for the year -- reduce our load and simplify our lives.

That is such a nice thing to do. since we put our house up for sale I've packed up over half of our posessions. Not only do I not miss the things, I am much happier living in a clutter-free environment.
To simplify is also one of my goals this year. The idea's been creeping up on me for a few months, but now I'd really like to put it into action. Good luck sticking to your simple life! It really does seem to be a good way to go. :)
