a happy something

when we lived in maryland, we had several huge peony bushes in our back yard. thinking back to these bushes, i don't know if they really were as huge as i remember or if it was just because i was smaller back then and everything seemed big.

my mom would often cut the peony blossoms in the spring to bring inside our home or give to friends. i fell in love with those blossoms -- they are so full and beautiful.

and every house we've lived in since, my mom has planted peonies somewhere in our yard. i, too, plan on planting peonies one day when we have a home with some land.

so, last week when i was grocery shopping, i was overjoyed to see cut peonies for sale. little girl picked the light pink variety, and they have brightened our home all week. look at those big blossoms! i can't help but smile when i see them.

and they have made our home smell heavenly. i think i'd like to smell like peonies -- i'll have to look for a peony perfume. they really are such a fragrant delight.

Peonies are one of my favorites too. They always blossom right around my birthday, making them a perfect birthday bouquet. They are just gorgeous!
