strawberry picking

strawberry season came late this year, but that didn't stop us from getting out to do a little picking a few weeks ago.

little girl loves strawberries -- and i thought little girl would love this family field trip. we gave her instructions to pick only the red strawberries and let her wander the fields, while mr. pike and i (with baby boy strapped to me) methodically picked through our row.

isn't little girl doing a good job?

somewhere along the route, little girl took off her shoes. against the better advice of her parents. and then somewhere after that, little girl stepped on a thistle. (a natural consequence of her choice -- which also should have taught her an important lesson, right?)

well, after some tears, little girl did decide to put her shoes back on. but she wouldn't walk the rest of the day. so, i carried baby boy and mr. pike carried little girl -- and then we finished picking strawberries.

someone thought they could still be of help.

Oh you guys are lucky to have strawberry picking! We have peach picking down in these parts. Maybe we could meet in the middle and pick some corn. Looks like little girl is a little less little every day. Love and miss you guys.
