while riding the train into the city, i started looking through a newspaper left on the seat next to me. the last page caught my eye -- home listings in oak park, il. with a frank lloyd wright home on the market.
just the day before, i had visited oak park with my friend miss anderson. we toured frank lloyd wright's home and studio. and i fell in love with frank's earlier architectural style -- a mix of what would become prairie style with the traditional victorian.
i coaxed mr. pike to go with me to the open house. we took at tour of the gale house -- the first of frank's bootlegged homes. (homes he built on the side of his full-time job with sullivan and adler.) the home has recently been rehabilitated -- it has a beautiful new kitchen and master bath. and the contractor did a fantastic job at restoring the home to its original look.
five bedrooms, three and a half baths, two car garage, updated mechanical systems, new plumbing, and exterior and interior surfaces have been replaced where needed. called frank's most livable home.
well, i was sold! what an opportunity to live in a frank lloyd wright home! the only problem -- it's $1.3 million price tag. so, i propose that we go in on the home with 1-3 other families. anyone interested in living with the pikes?!
i guess it will always be mine in my dreams.

Ok, you kill me. I saw that house and my first reaction was "How on earth did they afford that?!" and my second reaction was "What?!! It is a Frank Lloyd Wright?!" Definitely an attention grabbing post, you guys! I absolutely love Frank Lloyd Wright's style. My mom used to have a bunch of books with his homes in them. In fact, I wonder if they are still laying around the house somewhere. If you can find some other nice people that we would enjoy living with, I'll put up my share and move in!
