fabulously fall

there is a beautiful park across the street from our home with a mile-long walking trail, playgrounds, baseball diamonds, picnic tables, and an ice skating rink in the winter. mr. pike and i like to pretend it's our yard. (we just don't do any of the yard work!)

this past weekend, we stopped by to see the fall colors. mr. pike and i both love this time of year - but with both of us working now and the days getting shorter, we definitely don't get to enjoy the outdoors as much as we did over the summer. so, we decided to make a special trip over to the park to enjoy the day.

while the colors were amazing, we were more excited to see a huge pile of leaves waiting to be jumped in. i haven't played in the leaves for years, and as i threw myself into the middle of the pile, i wondered why i had ever stopped. mr. pike even buried me, and all thoughts of returning to our errands and responsibilities left my mind.

"we could make a fort, mr. pike. and live in the park in our new winter coats."

"well, that would be nice. . . ."

okay, so we haven't moved to the leaf fort in the park. but, we will always have our memories.

here's a little surprise footage that mr. pike wants me to include. (which if i agree to, i may be able to leverage this as a way to let me posting a clip of him dancing.) notice my new super duper winter coat that will keep me warm up to -40 degrees. it's like a sleeping bag, and i love it!

Awesome! Looks like so much fun! It reminds me of trips to St. George when I was younger to visit my grandparents at Thanksgiving. They lived across the street from a big tree-lined park. Because St. George is so much warmer than the rest of the state, the leaves stayed on the trees a lot longer, and when they did finally come down, all it took was a big gust of wind and 2-3 hours and they were ALL on the ground. Somehow we managed to time our visits perfectly so that we'd be there when they fell, and oh, the fun we had! Enjoy the rest of your autumn!

I am glad you are enjoying fall time! Autumn hasn't even begun for us down in California. It is still 90 degrees and there is no sign of leaves changing color! Enjoy the seasons :)
