crab rangoon

i realize that i write about food a lot. it happens to be a major focus of my thoughts -- and i think it stems from growing up in a family of food lovers. once again, i am going to share a food moment.

mr. pike and i have a favorite chinese restaurant in our town. last time we went, we ordered crab rangoon for our appetizer. the crispy wanton wrappers with melted cream cheese, crab meat, and scallions tasted so good.

when i was grocery shopping this week, i felt a craving for these wantons and remembered a time when my sister, mrs. jones, made these at home.

i called her for the ingredients -- cream cheese, imitation crab meat, green onions, and wanton wrappers. seemed simple enough, so i brought home the bounty for mr. pike.

last night we listened to oldies and filled wanton wrappers. then fried up our work on the stove. we ended up eating as we cooked -- we couldn't wait much longer than to let each one cool a bit.

these are such a delicious treat and pretty easy to make. perfect for a night in or party.
