unfortunately, because of an early warm march followed by a chilly april and late frost, compounded by not much rain this summer in the midwest, most orchards don't have a lot of apples to pick. the orchard we visited lost 70% of their crop this year. so they brought in thousands of apples and filled rain gutters that they hoisted throughout the orchard.
so, it wasn't quite the typical apple picking experience, but still lots of fun. little boy liked sampling the apples on the ground best.
and little girl got into a staring contest with a goat. not sure who won.
