a break from winter

only a few days ago it was in the teens in our neck of the woods. chilly for sure. and icy snow covered everything in sight.

today a little taste of spring came. the sun came out, the weather warmed up, and the snow started to melt.

to celebrate the respite from winter, mr. pike and i took a walk to the park. i hung up my sleeping bag coat for something much lighter. and mr. pike donned just a t-shirt.

the world was muddy, but warm and new. even the squirrels were enjoying being out.

we sat down on the swings and watched the world bend and twist with our every sway. a warm breeze swept over us. and it felt so nice to be outside again without feeling frigid air.

while we know it won't last, it was a wonderful way to spend a february afternoon.

We spend a recent afternoon in much the same way. Who knew temps in the mid 40s could feel so tropical? I'm glad you've been enjoying your respite, and here's hoping we all get more days like that than like those buried in snow.

Amen! We also enjoyed the Spring like weather here and took Ella to the park to play on the swings. Just think, next year you'll be doing the same:)
